Principles
All employees, contractors, and workers will be treated fairly, consistently, and with respect.
Alcohol and drug use in the workplace is not permitted, except where alcohol is authorized at sanctioned events.
Employees who voluntarily disclose dependency concerns will be supported confidentially and encouraged to seek professional assistance.
This policy aligns with applicable occupational health and safety requirements and employment standards.
Scope
This policy applies to:
All employees, contractors, and visitors
All company premises, client sites, and vehicles
Work hours, on-call duties, and work-related events
Alcohol or drug-related misconduct will be addressed under the company’s disciplinary procedures. Attendance or performance issues related to dependency may also be managed under medical leave or capability policies.
Rules and Prohibited Conduct
Prohibited Behavior
The following are strictly prohibited:
Reporting to work under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or impairing substances
Possession, use, sale, or distribution of illegal drugs on company or client premises
Unauthorized distribution or consumption of alcohol during working hours or on company premises
Prescription and Over-the-Counter Medication
Employees must inform their manager if prescribed or over-the-counter medication may impair alertness, coordination, or safety performance. Information will be handled confidentially.
Fitness for Work
Management reserves the right to assess whether an individual is fit for duty. Where impairment is suspected, the individual may be removed from duty and subject to further investigation or action.
Searches
Where there is reasonable suspicion, the company may conduct proportionate searches of work areas or company-owned property in accordance with privacy and employment laws.
Legal Compliance
Any illegal activity involving drugs or controlled substances on company or client premises may be reported to appropriate authorities where required.

Consequences of Non-Compliance
Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Contractors or third-party personnel may have contracts suspended or terminated immediately depending on the severity of the breach.
